Week 8 Recap

Ladies and gentlemen, All of the Sutton has now been edged in a nail-biter by two different teams in two consecutive weeks — and if that team had a therapist, the copay would be astronomical.

Sun God Welcome Committee survived All of the Sutton by three and a half points. Three. And a half. Last week it was ImAStroudPenix picking their pocket by two-point-nine-six. This week the Welcome Committee reached into the same pocket and found ninety-seven dollars and two cents. All of the Sutton has lost four straight, has been beaten by margins of four, three, and now three again in various weeks this season, and at this point the cruelest thing in fantasy football isn't a blowout — it's being just good enough to make it hurt. The Welcome Committee, meanwhile, extends their win streak to five games, sits alone at six-and-two atop the standings, and shows absolutely no signs of letting anyone in. We said the streak was a religion last week. It has since started passing the collection plate.

Hot on their heels is Taylor made, who dispatched MARK SHANKCHEZ by twenty-six and rides a four-game win streak of their own to six-and-two. Remember Week 4, when Gadsden my Johnston detonated Taylor made by sixty-five points and the season looked like wreckage? Taylor made has won six of eight since that fire. The rebuild was fast, the grudge is probably longer. One game back on points, identical record, and the two best teams in The G-League are now staring at each other across the top of the standings like they've been building toward something.

ImAStroudPenix survived The Burrenaissance one forty-two to one thirty-two in a game that featured a combined two-seventy-five points and the kind of drama that had no business being that close. ImAStroudPenix makes it two straight wins, which is a genuine turnaround for a team that needed a calculator and a miracle to escape three-and-five. The Burrenaissance, however, drops to two-and-six, having now started the season by blowing out Goat Mode in Week 2 like they were a dynasty and spent the next six weeks quietly misplacing that energy.

Goat Mode took out Allen my ass by forty-two, which is a firm and emphatic answer to anyone who thought last week's blowout of Goat Mode by Taylor made meant anything permanent. Allen my ass, who put up a hundred forty-nine just seven days ago, managed eighty-seven this week — which is the fantasy equivalent of bringing a flamethrower to Monday's game and a water pistol to Sunday's.

World's Most Overrated blew out Gadsden my Johnston by fifty-two points, which is a stunning reversal from the team Allen my ass torched by fifty-one just a week prior. The Overrated brand has apparently decided to be ironic about it. Gadsden my Johnston, the team that posted the season high of one sixty-six back in Week 4, managed seventy-two this week and is now three-and-five despite owning eight hundred and eighty total points — somehow the richest tenant in the bottom half of the building.

Multiple Scoregasms took care of kuppmylifetopieces by fifteen, a workmanlike win that keeps them alive at four-and-four. kuppmylifetopieces slides to four-and-four on a four-game losing streak, which at this point rhymes a little too neatly for comfort.

Sun God Welcome Committee and Taylor made — six-and-two, both of them, breathing down each other's necks. They can't both win the top seed, and the schedule is about to stop being polite about it.

Next week, something at the top has to give — and after five weeks of watching the Welcome Committee act untouchable, the rest of this league is finally running out of patience.
