Week 9 Recap
The G-League · 2025
Ladies and gentlemen, half a point. Not half a game, not half a quarter — half a point. Five-tenths of a fantasy score. The Burrenaissance defeated Taylor made eighty-four-oh-eight to eighty-three-fifty-six, and somewhere in that margin lives the cruelest joke the schedule has told all season. Taylor made entered Week 9 at six-and-two, one game back of the Welcome Committee, quietly building a grudge since Gadsden torched them by sixty-five back in Week 4. They had won six of eight. They had looked like contenders. And they lost to The Burrenaissance — The Burrenaissance, a team that has now started the year by blowing out Goat Mode in Week 2 and then proceeding to lose seven of their next eight — by less than a single point. The Renaissance is still not exactly happening, but tonight they borrowed enough canvases to cover the damage. Taylor made falls to six-and-three and skids out of the top two. That's the kind of loss that stings in the shower.
The beneficiary is MARK SHANKCHEZ, who did the standings a favor by absolutely dismantling ImAStroudPenix — one forty-three-nine to eighty-nine-thirty-two, a fifty-four point demolition. MARK SHANKCHEZ now leads the league at six-and-three with over a thousand points on the season, and that name is starting to feel less like a pun and more like a prophecy. ImAStroudPenix drops to three-and-six. The quarterback-centric branding has aged about as well as we suggested it might. That team is not striding into the playoffs — they are being gently escorted toward the exit.
All of the Sutton put up nearly a hundred and forty-nine and buried Allen my ass by forty points. This is the same All of the Sutton that has been on the wrong side of two different gut-punch losses this season. The therapy bills are apparently funding a revenge arc. Allen my ass, meanwhile, falls to four-and-five on a two-game skid, which is a significant fall from the team that torched World's Most Overrated by fifty-one just two weeks ago.
Goat Mode handled Sun God Welcome Committee by twenty-three, which puts a small but meaningful dent in the Welcome Committee's armor. After six straight wins and a stretch where they looked completely untouchable, the Welcome Committee stumbles to six-and-three and falls into a three-way tie at the top alongside MARK SHANKCHEZ and Taylor made. All that preaching from the collection plate last week, and Goat Mode just knocked the basket out of their hands. Goat Mode is now on a two-game win streak and quietly climbing.
World's Most Overrated topped kuppmylifetopieces to run their own two-game streak and move to four-and-five. kuppmylifetopieces, unfortunately, has now dropped five straight. Five. The kup runneth empty.
Gadsden my Johnston won the week's best slugfest, surviving Multiple Scoregasms one forty to one twenty-seven. A thirteen-point margin that felt about three times closer. Gadsden sits at four-and-five with the most total points in this entire league — a thousand and twenty — and is somehow still outside the top four. That is the statistical equivalent of scoring more touchdowns than anyone in the stadium and still not making the team.
Three teams at six-and-three staring at each other across the standings. MARK SHANKCHEZ holds the tiebreaker, but nobody in that cluster has any margin left to be generous with.
Somebody at the top is about to blink — and after what The Burrenaissance did with half a point, don't assume you know who.
